Who We Are

Experienced and Supportive

With one of 350 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's start-up grants, in 2002, Presbyterian Outreach with Sharon Yahnke, 3rd term VISTA as manager, opened an office in Hamburg, Fremont Co to implement their proposal:

“In Fremont County and Southwest Iowa, Faith in Action's projects are developed to support a community where all residents may live independently with dignity.”

Now, 23 years on, Faith in Action, Fremont County has adapted to local needs and continues the work with volunteers and residents county-wide

  • The original grant proposal included a Health Equipment Loan program, now one of several along with other public health providers in SW Iowa.

  • In Hamburg, resident seniors wanted transportation. Faith in Action with SWIPCO made that happen and have expanded our Taxi Service over time into 4 counties of SW Iowa.

  • Proposed by FIA Board President (2008) Rev Thomas Clark, our Trap/Neuter/Return Program for community cats is appreciated. This project is never-ending…we’re up for the challenge!

  • Currently we’re talking with others who will expand their gardens this year to produce more food to share…stand by!

"A neighbor's independence depends on you."
